Hello and Welcome to Athens! My name is Alexandros, but you can call me Alex, as my friends do. I’ll be your local guide during your time in Athens. There’s a well-known saying: “The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.” From a young age, I knew exactly what I wanted—to explore both history and different cultures. This passion led me to become an archaeologist and a tour guide. I have studied History and Archaeology, as well as Museology and Cultural Management. Additionally, I work as a museum educator, engaging with both children and adults. For me, guiding isn’t just about sharing historical facts; it’s about offering a deeper understanding of the city from a local’s perspective. It’s not only about explaining when and how Athens became a great ancient city, but why it was so influential and what makes it special even today. Traveling is my greatest passion. As a traveler myself, I understand what visitors hope to experience when exploring a new place. That’s why I strive to see Athens through their eyes, revealing the city in a way I would love to discover it if I were a guest. In my free time, I enjoy reading, learning new languages, and doing wine degustations.. I’m always eager to introduce visitors to Athens’ history, culture, and daily life, blending the city’s classical heritage with its modern vibrancy. Looking forward to meeting you! Credentials: • Licensed Tourist Guide (Greek Ministry of Tourism) • Bachelor’s Degree in History (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) • Master’s Degree in Museology & Cultural Management (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) Please note: I am not a driver, but I can accompany you in your vehicle or arrange for a separate car and driver if needed.
